I’d like to share with you a strategy you can use to monetize your blog. This strategy, in my opinion is a very smart and secure way to monetize your blog. I’ll explain the strategy in a nutshell. Basically, you’re going to use affiliate links within your blog posts to sell products and/or services. Once those affiliate links are generating sales, consistently, you’re going to swap out the affiliate links with a link to your own product. This strategy is simple yet powerful. Read on for more details.

The Strategy Explained With Some More Detail

Over time, as your blog starts to gain visitors, you will, most likely, find out that 20% or less of your blog posts drive the most traffic to your website. Naturally, if you have affiliate links in these posts, you will, most likely, be earning income from your visitors clicking on those links and purchasing the product/service it leads them to. Let’s say, for example, the affiliate link you’re sending lots of sales to is a product on Amazon. You’re probably earning around 4% commission on that product. Not much.

So you have all this traffic you’re earning commissions from via your affiliate product that you’re advertising. Now why not substitute the affiliate link with your own product? Instead of earning 4% commission for selling another company’s product, you earn way more selling your own similar product.

Picture the Beauty Of This Strategy

To paint a picture in your mind of the beauty of this approach, think about this. Many business owners have a great idea for a product. So they pay to have the product built and then they pay to “launch” the product. To do this, a lot risk is taken in having the product made. Lots of money is also spent on advertising. Even with all the advertising they do, there’s no guarantee that their product is going to sell. This is why starting a business is risky. Now let’s say you, on the other hand, are already sending people to a product you are affiliated with that sells. You swap out that product with your own product and, viola! Instant sales! Guess what that means? No product launch needed. You just avoided spending thousands of dollars in advertising with no guarantee that people are even going to buy your product.

Think about it this way as well. You own this valuable piece of property on the Internet. The “property” I’m referring to is that blog post that thousands of unique visitors are looking at each month. So you are capitalizing on that property. Similar to a house that you buy for pennies on the dollar, flip it, and sell it for way more money.

There Are Rules To This Strategy

Sounds great. But I do believe there are some rules for implementing this strategy.

The first rule is to pick products/services to promote that you could feasibly create yourself under your own company name. For example, if your sending lots of people to iPads and they’re purchasing them, that’s great! But, let’s face it, you’re probably not going to create the next iPad or anything comparable to it. As another example, let’s say a big reason people purchase the product you’re sending them to is the name behind the product (ex, Nike, Coach, Lucky, etc..). Well, in that case scenario, your product may not sell so well since people don’t want to buy the similar product under your name brand.

On the other hand, let’s say you’re sending people to a kitchen product. The product your sending people to is a knife made to cut pies. This is a pretty niche product. Now imagine you had your own pie cutter that you had manufactured or drop shipped from a different company on Amazon. You swap out the current affiliate link with a link to your pie cutter. This is where the magic happens. Instead of receiving a small 4% affiliate commission, you receive the net profit from selling your pie cutters. Ideally, your net profit will be much more than the 4% commission you were receiving from the affiliate link.

I Absolutely Love This Strategy for a Couple Big Reasons:

  1. You pretty much know the product is going to sell. This takes away a lot of the stress of not knowing whether or not its worth investing in creating this product. Again, there are some caveats to this as I just explained. But if you do your research and you know the people aren’t after the brand name, then you maybe fine.
  2. No need for a product launch. People who make products go to great lengths to “launch” the product. You don’t need to this.

This same concept goes for anything you have that has high traffic. It could be a Youtube video with lots of views, a Podcast with lots of subscribers, an Email list with lots of subscribers (that actually open their emails you send them), etc… Don’t ignore these high-traffic posts, letting them earn you a small affiliate commission when you could be earning a large income.

Finally, I’ll mention this. Hopefully you have Google Analytics set up for your website. If you do then it will be very easy to log in there to see those top performing pages. What are you waiting for? Go look for those pages that are doing the most traffic, and monetize on them!

As you start to go through the resource lists, it’s great to obtain specific items here and there. But you will soon realize that blogging requires you to learn new skills… a lot of skills! Examples of such skills include:

  • Creating photos for blog posts, Facebook, Instagram, etc..
  • Creating infographics
  • Advertising on Social media networks (Facebook, Instagram, etc..)
  • Email marketing
  • Creating Webinars
  • Search Engine Optimization
  • Google Analytics

And the list goes on. Fortunately, we live in a time where one can easily learn new skills that are very valuable, such as the ones I mentioned, from qualified instructors by spending little money, and investing some time into taking affordable online courses. So set yourself apart from the bloggers that have not taken the time to learn such valuable skills.

Let’s get into it. All the learning platforms listed offer classes related to blogging, marketing, etc… Take some time to check them all out.

Udemy

I’m a huge fan of Udemy. It’s my go-to website for picking up new courses. Just about anyone can create a course on Udemy. Even though anyone can create a course on this platform, the quality of courses are top notch. The reason for that is because students have the ability to rate the courses they take and comment on them. This makes it very easy to filter out the poor performing courses and arrive at taking courses that have lots of high ratings.

The pricing is very fair. They’re usually always running a deal where all the courses prices are marked down.

Because there is a lot of competition among instructors you’ll find that you end up getting amazing deals on courses.

Fiverr

Many people are not aware that Fiverr released online courses you can purchase. The courses are very impressive as well. The instructors are highly qualified in their field and the prices are very affordable. It’s definitely worth checking out.

Skillshare

Similar to Udemy, Skillshare has lots of courses. The big difference is that with Skillshare, you pay a monthly fee (less than $10/month as of the writing of this post) and you get access to all the courses on the website. The courses are very professionally crafted.

Pluralsight

I’m also a big fan of Pluralsight. Pluralsight seems to be doing an amazing job of creating courses geared towards people with corporate jobs. You’ll find many IT-related skills in paths related to Microsoft, Linux, Cloud technologies, development, etc… The courses are all straight-to-the-point. Not a lot of fluff. I can appreciate this. For example, I took a React course on Pluralsight and I also took one on Udemy. The course on Pluralsight was not nearly as long. But within one hour I had learned more on the Pluralsight course than I did spending 5 hours on the Udemy course. Now that said, I will admit, I took an AWS course on Udemy and I also took one on Plurasight. I thought the one on Udemy was much better.

Similar to Skillshare, you pay one monthly fee to get access to all of their courses.

StackSocial

StackSocial is a cool site that sells things other than courses. But let’s focus on the courses. They offer course bundles on all kinds of subjects such marketing, business, and design all at great deals.

Lynda

Lynda is another great platform to learn new skills similar to Pluralsight and Skillshare. You pay one monthly fee to get access to their whole library of courses.

Coursera

So one thing that separates Coursera apart from the other websites is that you can actually work with real universities to earn college degrees at a much lower cost than you would going on-campus. You can also work with top leading universities to earn certificates in specializations. Although, not a college degree, completion of any of these specializations is definitely something you can add to your resume or LinkedIn. Of course you can also pay to take individual courses. Personally, I’m thinking of learning more about the Google cloud. Coursera definitely looks like the place to do that.

Ultimately, I suggest checking all of these websites out. The more you learn new skills the more valuable you become. Not only as a blogger, but out in the job market. In regards to blogging, taking some valuable courses from some of these excellent sites will give you the skills you need to make your blog stand out from the rest.

If your plan is to be a successful blogger then taking a blogging course is a must. Now not all blogging courses are created equal. So in this post I will take you through some of the top blogging courses you can take in 2021. I will admit, on the getting started page, here on Pro Blog Resources, I show you the basics that are needed to get up and running. But these courses go way above and beyond. They get into the nitty gritty of blogging.

Many people think they can just purchase a domain, web hosting, install WordPress, maybe a free theme, and start blogging their way to riches. Well, it doesn’t work that easily. Taking a course on blogging, you’ll find that there are so many tips and tricks to this game that would be very difficult to learn on your own.

A valuable blogging course is going to show you a variety of things including:

  • Helping finding your niche
  • Getting a domain, hosting, installing and using WordPress.
  • Creating content.
  • Traffic Generation Strategies
  • Launching your blog
  • Keeping your blog going
  • Linking building
  • Social media strategies
  • Email marketing
  • How to best utilize analytics in order to increase your traffic over time.
  • Monetizing your blog. There are a lot of ways to do this and a good course will go over each one and how to best monetize on it
  • The mental game – Putting yourself in the right mindset and staying there.

Now there are many topics related to each subject written above and a good course will go into detail on them. Many people get into blogging with the intention to, essentially, make blogging their career. The good news is, for many people, blogging is a full-time career. For many it’s a great way to make some side income, passively. If your plan is to be a successful blogger then taking a blogging course is a must. I truly believe it’s going to greatly increase your outcomes for success.

Because there’s so many elements to being a successful blogger, I don’t believe one can have a natural ability to be a successful blogger. To be a successful blogger is something that has to first be learned and then implemented.

If cost is a concern, don’t worry. The blogging courses listed below are reasonably priced courses that are jam-packed with value; real value that you can implement today.
So without further ado, here are some of the top blogging courses to take in 2021.

When you get into blogging you’re going to need a laptop in order to write your posts, create videos, edit photos, and more. So having a quality laptop that won’t slow down and will last for the long run is very important. In this resource list I’m going to show you the best laptops that will make blogging much more enjoyable.

Why Bloggers Should Invest in  a Laptop

So why a laptop? Why not a desktop computer? I can answer that question in one word. Portability. Laptops give you the ability to blog from home or anywhere else. Also, they are just as powerful as any desktop computer.

Now when it comes to picking the right laptop, it’s all about the system specs. The CPU, the memory, and the hard drive. In my opinion, the most important piece of hardware is the hard drive. I’ll briefly explain why I believe that to be true.

Why The Hard Drive Is So Important

One thing that all laptops in this list have in common is that they all have solid state drives (SSD). I did this for a reason. I truly believe that if you’re going to invest in a laptop then you really should purchase one with an NVMe SSD. Hard drives are the number one bottleneck, from a hardware point-of-view. In other words, when your laptop is running slow, the hard drive is usually the cause of it.

The reason for that, without getting into geek-talk, is that the hard drive can’t keep up with the CPU and memory which are WAY faster. This is something I learned years and years ago in my computer repair class in college and still holds true today. But the main take-away with SSDs is this. They make a huge difference in system performance. I’ll leave it at this. A solid state drive is up to 30x faster than a traditional mechanical hard drive.

Also, when blogging you may decide to record Youtube videos or start a Podcast. This means that you’ll probably invest in a webcam, USB microphone, screen capturing software, and video/photo editing software. These kinds of software run locally on your laptop. If your laptop is lagging behind it can affect the video and sound quality. Which is yet another reason to go with the SSD.

I’ll admit, I also went with laptops with good CPU and memory specifications as well for those of you who get into photo/video editing as it really helps.

Purchase an External Webcam and Microphone With Your Laptop

Last thing I’ll say before getting into the list is that each laptop comes equipped with a built-in microphone and webcam. That said, in my opinion, if you want to get into recording Youtube videos, creating a Podcasts, or an online course, then you’ll want to invest in a quality webcam and USB microphone. The microphone and webcam that is built into a laptop is usually not the greatest. Although, I do have to admit, Mac does a pretty good job. So you may be fine with your Mac’s built in webcam. But if you want the best quality possible without breaking the bank, look into a better quality microphone and webcam. I truly believe it’s worth it.

Overall, this list is not going to be very long. I nailed down my list to just four laptops for 2021 that I believe you should check out and decide on. These laptops have amazing specs and will give you a really good bang for your buck. Laptops aren’t cheap. So think of this as an investment. You’re, more-than-likely, going to be using this laptop just about every day. You want a laptop that’s going to last for years to come and perform well over time.

So without further ado, let’s get into the list:

Acer Aspire 5 Slim Laptop

The Acer Aspire 5 is an excellent laptop for the price. As of my writing this, for $597.95 + Free shipping. This laptop comes with an AMD Ryzen 5 3500U Quad-core processor which provides up to 3.7GHz of power.(that is powerful), 8GB of DDR4 RAM, and a 256GB PCIe NVMe SSD. It also has AMD Radeon Vega 8 mobile graphics. So  your graphics will be very clear. It also advertises a 7.5 hours battery life. This laptop will stay with you all day.

It currently has a 4.6 out of 5 rating on Amazon out of 25,484 ratings making this one of Amazon’s best selling laptops.

Also, if you’re going to pick up a case to go along with, it I suggest the Lacdo 360. It’s a sleek case that has an extendable hand strap, spill resistant exterior, and it’s shock resistant. Also, it’s just a very nice looking sleeve.

Acer Predator Helios 300 Gaming Laptop

So I know I’m researching the best laptops for bloggers. Not gamers. But, that said, many of the tasks bloggers do such as photo/graphic design and video editing, require a lot of memory, CPU, and GPU power. Gaming laptops come with high quality CPU, memory, and graphics cards. Here are some of the specs that make this laptop incredibly amazing for the price (which is $1,199.00 as of the writing of this).

  • 10th Generation Intel Core i7-10750H 6-Core Processor (Up to 5.0 GHz) with Windows 10 Home 64 Bit. 5.0 GHz is very powerful.
  • Overclockable NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060 with 6 GB of dedicated GDDR6 VRAM
  • 15.6″ Full HD (1920 x 1080) Widescreen LED-backlit IPS display (144Hz Refresh Rate, 3ms Overdrive Response Time, 300nit Brightness & 72% NTSC)
  • 16 GB DDR4 2933MHz Dual-Channel Memory, 512GB NVMe SSD (2 x M.2 slots | 1 Slot open for easy upgrades) & 1 – Available Hard Drive Bay
  • 4-Zone RGB Backlit Keyboard | Wireless: Killer Double Shot Pro Wireless-AX 1650i 802. 11ax Wi-Fi 6 | LAN: Killer Ethernet E2600 10/100/1000 Gigabit Ethernet LAN | DTS X: Ultra-Audio | 4th Gen All-Metal AeroBlade 3D Fan.

As of the writing of this, this laptop scores a 4.7 of 5 stars out of 2,541 reviews. That’s an excellent rating for a laptop. For the specs, it is well worth the price. Unlike the Acer Aspire 5, above, this laptop comes with an Intel processor.

Lenovo Flex 5 14″ 2-in-1 Laptop

This 2-in-1 laptop that comes with a digital pen is an amazing laptop for the price. It has a great look and works great in ‘Laptop’ mode or ‘Tent’ mode for sharing things. Then there’s also ‘Stand’ mode which is great if you’re binge watching some Netflix.

The battery last up to 10 hours. So should be good to go all day.

I’ve always known IBM hardware to be very dependable as I’ve been assigned many of them throughout my career.

This is also a powerful laptop. It’s powered by the AMD Ryzen 5 4500U with a Radeon graphics card. It also comes with 16GB of RAM. So you should have no problem with memory resources. The laptop also just has a good feel to it with the rubberized keyboard deck.

Overall, for the price (around $700), in my opinion this may be the best laptop on the list.

Apple MacBook Air

If you’re a Mac user and you’re a blogger, this is the model I suggest for you. Even if you’re not a blogger and just looking for a dependable machine, this is the way to go. With an Apple M1 8-core CPU that performs up to 3.5x faster than previous versions as it’s made specifically for this model. Also the GPU speeds are up to 5x faster. The M1 chip is revolutionary. Something else that caught my eye is that it claims to have a battery that lasts up to 16 hours! Also, if you tend to purchase other Apple products, then I suggest you consider going to the MacBook since it can sync with those other devices. If you’re hesitant about buying a Mac because you’re a Windows user then I suggest taking the Mac Basics – Master your Mac & MacOS X – The Complete Course to get up-to-speed on how to use the Mac.

Mac’s have been very popular machines for photo and video editing. Marketing departments at every company I have worked for always levitate to the Macs.

Mac’s do tend of be pricier compared to Windows machines. The MacBook Air, as of this writing, is $989.11. The Mac’s do hold their value better than PCs do, get regular software updates, and in my opinion, seem to be less glitchy. I’ve noticed Windows machines will slow down over time, whereas, Mac’s don’t seem to. I’m sure many will argue with me on that. I notice the same thing with my iPhone compared to Androids. The Androids slow down over time while my iPhone keeps chugging along with no glitches and operates the same as it did when I bought it from day one.

Also, if you’re looking for a nice sleeve to go along with your MacBook Air, which I highly suggest, then check out the MOSISO.

So Which One Should I Pick

Ultimately, it depends on what you’re doing. If I had to keep things as simple as I could for you, I’d say if you plan on installing a lot of programs on your machine then go with a laptop that has higher specs like the Acer gaming laptop or the MacBook Air.

As a blogger, it’s smart to outsource some tasks. Fortunately, there are a few great outsourcing websites you can use and we’ll go over them. But what kind of work would you outsource? Well there’s plenty. Here are a few ideas of work you could outsource:

  • Logo design
  • Business card design
  • Infographic design
  • Transcribing your podcast/Youtube video
  • Explainer videos (whiteboard animation)
  • SEO help
  • Content writing
  • Website design
  • WordPress help
  • Do research
  • Social media management

And the list goes on.

You might be thinking, “I can’t afford to hire a freelancer. Isn’t that going to cost a lot of money?” Well, even if you’re a blogger with a small budget, you’d be surprised how far it can be stretched in today’s freelance world.

Fortunately, for you, there are three great outsourcing websites you can go in order to hire freelancers to help you with your blog.

The other option is to learn some of these skills yourself. There’s absolutely nothing wrong with that. If you are inclined to do so, I suggest checking out my post on the best websites to learn new skills.

Fiverr

Fiverr is a global online marketplace for hiring freelancers at prices as low as $5. It is one of my favorite outsourcing websites. The concept is pretty simple. As a seller, you post your service on Fiverr. Fiverr calls the service a gig. So, put differently, you post your gig, set the price, and then explain the details of the service you are offering. Once the gig is published customers can purchase it. Sellers are rated by the buyers who they have completed orders for. You can also see how many reviews have been left for the seller along with their positive rating percentage. This really helps to understand what kind of reputation the seller has.

There are lots of various gigs offered on Fiverr. Popular gigs include

  • Logo design
  • WordPress customization
  • Voice over work
  • Whiteboard animation
  • SEO

That’s just to name a few. Then there’s also bizarre gigs. I found a gig where the seller will record anything you want him to say as Adam Sandler.

Not sure where to start? Fortunately Fiverr offers a lot of educational resources to help you get started in understanding how Fiverr works. They have a blog, a forum, an academy, and even a Podcast (which I’ve listened to before and is pretty good).

Upwork.com

Upwork Logo

Upwork, in my opionion, is a step above Fiverr in regards to hiring professionals for the job. In a nutshell, the way Upwork works is that you post your project, get bids from various freelancers, and hire the one you want for the job.

Upwork seems to also be a better option, compared to Fiverr, for larger jobs. Whereas Fiverr is great for one-off gigs (voice-over, logo design, etc..), Upwork is better if you’re looking to do something like have an app created.

99Designs.com

99 Designs Logo

99Designs has become very popular as of late. It is one of the largest outsourcing websites for online graphic design. It’s a great place to go for your next logo, banner, book cover and much much more. It works a bit differently than Fiverr. Here is how it works in a nutshell.

With 99Designs, you put your design brief out there. For example, let’s say you’re in the market for a logo. You would go through a questionnaire filling out detailed information about the logo design you are seeking. Then you launch your contest. Once you launch the contest, more than 1,128,000 designers can now choose to brainstorm ideas for you. Dozens of designs will come to you. See one you like? But want something modified? Chat with the designer. Ask for the modification. Finally, after 7 days, pick your favorite design. The designer you pick will be the winner for your design contest. The designer receives the prize money and you receive the full design with copyright.

So in essence, you have lots of quality designers competing for your business. This means that you are bound to receive excellent quality work and obtain exactly what you were looking for.

Visit 99Desigsn

In Closing

I have to admit, I recently reduced the number of choices for this category. I feel over the years Fiverr and Upwork have really bubbled up to be the top dogs in the freelance world for bloggers, marketers, and more. As a blogger, you’ll find a lot of great ways to utilize these websites to really create a professional presence.

As you start blogging you’ll quickly realize that stock photo websites are a must-have. Although your content is amazingly great, there is something missing. Pictures! As the old saying goes, a picture speaks a thousand words. Having the right picture can make a world of a difference.

This is where a quality stock photo website comes into play. Stock photo websites hold thousands of great quality images that you can search from. Of course, you’ll want to closely analyze the license statement for the site to get an understanding of what you can/cannot use the photos for.

PikWizard

What I like about PikWizard is that you can select from a wide variety of quality images and then edit the image. I’m a big fan of PikWizard. It’s a slick website.

Visit PikWizard

Unsplash

If you’re looking for excellent quality photos to use, then you will definitely want to save Unsplash to your favorites. As of the writing of this blog post, all photos published to Unsplash can be used completely free for both commercial and non-commercial use.

Canva

Canva is similar to PikWizard and is a site I have used many times to create nice looking headings for my blog posts. It’s very user-friendly. I also like that they give dimensions based on what you’re trying to do (Facebook post, Instagram post, business card, infographic, etc..).

Pexels is a great site that I have used for various projects. They have a great database of easily searchable images. I definitely suggest favoriting their page.

As a blogger, you may wisely decide to extend your audience outreach to platforms such as Youtube, Soundcloud, Podcasting, gaming etc.. When you decide to do that there are going to be a few items you’ll need. Whether you’re doing video or audio, you’re going to need a microphone. I hate to break it to you, but the microphone that is built into your laptop isn’t going to cut it. One of the least expensive and most effective ways to add amazing sound quality to a Youtube video, Podcast, etc.. is to use a good quality USB microphone. As you’ll see, USB microphones have improved over the years and in 2021 USB microphones are at a whole new level.

If you’re streaming, I also suggest a great USB cam. Check out my best choices for USB webcams.

USB Micrphones Have Improved

Fortunately, USB microphones have come a long way in regards to quality. Many people will say they are starting to become studio-quality. This means that people can now use USB microphones for professional purposes. So in this list we are going to review 10 of the best USB microphones around. The goal here is to help you purchase the right microphone.

What Applications Are USB Microphones Commonly Used For?

USB microphones are being used for a variety of applications. Here are a few:

  • Podcasting
  • Skype calls
  • Music (singing/acoustic guitar)
  • Voice-overs
  • Gaming
  • And more..

Why Go With USB Microphones

  • Portability – Taking a full recording studio with you may be a difficult thing to do. Not if you’re using a studio-quality USB microphone. All you will really need is the microphone on a USB cord to connect it to your laptop.
  • Less Expensive – USB microphones are affordable.
  • Ease-of-use – Most USB microphones are plug-and-play. They all come with detailed instructions so you’ll be up and running in no time at all.
  • Quality – Quality has come a long way and many professional podcasters, musicians, and voice-over artists rely on USB microphones.

Suggestions For Your USB Microphone

Aside from the mic, you may also want to invest in the following to go along with your USB microphone:

  • Pop Filter
  • Shock Mount
  • Arm Stand
  • Isolation Shield

Without further ado, let’s get into the list.

Blue Yeti

I try to stay away from giving you “top picks” but for this list of ten I have to bend my rule. The Blue Yeti is at the top of the list as my top pick. This is the USB microphone I personally use. I did a lot of research on USB microphones before picking this one. This microphone is a #1 Best Seller on Amazon and for good reason. The reviews are all very positive, for the most part.

As of this writing, the Blue Yeti has a 4.7 out of 5 rating on Amazon out of over 23K ratings.

Personally, I used it when I created my Udemy course. Needless to say I was very happy with the sound quality. I could hear a world of a difference in my voice when recording on the Yeti compared to the microphone built into my laptop. So much so that I actually liked the way my voice sounded on the Yeti. I was able to use this microphone right out of the box. Plug and play. Good to go. People who have reviewed this item claim it to be better than some of the top-end microphones.

This microphone has a solid build. So don’t be surprised when you pull this microphone out to realize how heavy it is. But I don’t see that as a con. I see it as well-built, quality piece of equipment.

After going through 100 verified reviews here are some of the main points I can sum up about the Blue Yeti

Pros

  • Better than most high-end mics

  • Cardioid pattern adds richness for voice over work

  • Solid build. It’s made from solid metal.

  • Great for Skype calls

  • Zero-latency headphone jack makes it great for radio/Podcasts. No delay.

  • Can be mounted onto a standard microphone floor stand

  • For Podcasters, whether you’re going solo or doing an interview, this one mic will do the trick.

  • Good for recording music (vocals)

  • THX-compliant

Cons

  • Not ideal for recording outside due to it’s bulkiness and heaviness

Suggestions – Purchase

  • Mic stand since it picks up keystrokes when typing
  • Pop-screen
  • Shock mount

Fifine

The Fifine is currently Amazon’s Choice for USB microphones. This seems to be a newer microphone as well since I don’t remember seeing it a year ago when I updated this list. But with a 4.4 rating out of over 3,500 ratings, I would say this is probably a great mic. Let’s look a little further in to why that is.

Well it comes with a 5.9ft USB cable. I like that it advertises that. Having a long USB cable can be important if you decide to pick the mic up during  a Podcast.

The tripod stand that it comes with appears to be very sturdy.

I’m a big fan of the volume knob. It’s there so that you can adjust the volume during your recording so that quality is perfect. It helps to make sure your voice is as clear as can be.

It seems to be marketed towards streamers/gamers. Looking at some of the reviews, people have gave it good reviews as a mic that can be used for voice-overs, and music recording.

It’s also small in size and should fit in most computer cases.

As of the writing of this article, it’s only $38.99. Compared to the Blue Yeti, that’s a lot less!

Pros

  • From the reviews I’m seeing, quality is just as good, if not better, than the Blue Yeti.

    Suggestions – Purchase

    • Mic stand since it picks up keystrokes when typing
    • Pop-screen
    • Shock mount

    Blue Yeti X Professional

The Blue Yeti X Professional is another USB mic given the excellent badge of being Amazon’s Choice. It’s a CES 2020 Innovation award honoree. It has a four-capsul array, making it amazing for streaming, creating Youtube productions, podcasting, and more.

You can also download Logitech G HUB or Blue Sherpa (for PC and Mac) and get instant access to Blue VO!CE broadcast effects with presets for achieving professional on-stream sound quality.

You can also customize the LED lighting on the knob which is really cool.

The LED metering lets you visualize your voice level. This way, just glancing at it, you can check if your voice level is too high or too low and adjust accordingly.

Similar to the Yeti, it has four pickup patterns. Switch between cardioid for recording and streaming, omni for conference calls, bi-directional for podcast interviews and stereo for immersive experiences.

    Pros

    • Just as good as the original Blue Yeti but smaller in size.

      Suggestions – Purchase

Audio-Technica AT2020USB PLUS Cardioid Condenser USB Microphone

Good for – Podcasting, voiceovers, interviews, field recordings

      • Frequency response – 20Hz-20kHz
      • Sample Rate: 16bit

If you want a product that is going to be comparable in sound quality to the Blue Yeti (which is my top pick) then the Audio-Technica AT2020USB is sure to match. It also comes in at around the same price point as the Yeti. Again, I try to stay away from “Top picks,” That said, this microphone comes in number two to the Blue Yeti.

This microphone has some amazing reviews on Amazon around sound capture (which is probably the most important quality in a microphone). In some reviews, people who have actually used both the Yeti and the AT2020USB prefer the AT2020USB as it has given them better sound quality. So decision, decisions…

It has a built-in headphone jack that lets you directly monitor your microphone signal with no delay (zero-latency).

From reviews that I’ve heard, it’s highly suggested to purchase a pop filter to go along with it since it’s very sensitive (which is a good thing).

Samson Meteor – Great Quality, Great Price

One of the only microphones listed with a built-in mute switch.

      • Frequency response – 20Hz-20kHz
      • Sample Rate: 16bit

The Samson Meteor comes up as Amazon’s Choice. Backed by some very favorable ratings from professionals, this microphone, especially for the price, is sure to please. From a price-point, as of the writing of this post, it’s around $30 less than the Yeti.

The Meteor is the only other microphone, besides the Yeti, to offer a mute switch built-into the microphone. It has a stereo ⅛” headphone jack for zero-latency monitoring. Finally, it has a large 25mm diaphragm.

      Great microphone for the price.

      View it on Amazon

      Blue Snowball

The other USB microphone from Blue.

      • Frequency response – 20Hz-20kHz
      • Sample Rate: 16bit

If you’re on a tighter budget and don’t want to purchase the Blue Yeti microphone then Blue also offers the Snowball. Much like the Yeti, the Snowball is well-suited for podcasts, song vocals, and other voice-work. It’s been highly purchased and highly rated on Amazon and for good reason. Blue makes great USB microphones.

The Snowball has three settings modes

Cardioid mode – Only picks up sounds directly in front while blocking out sounds from the sides and back.

Cardiod Mode with -10 dB PAD – Same as Cardioid mode but made for recording loud noises as it puts a -10dB attenuation that helps you capture louder sounds with greater quality and fidelity.

Omnidirectional Mode – Picks up sounds from all directions.

      Snowball vs. Yeti

It’s difficult for me to do a review of the Snowball without comparing it to the Yeti. It would only be fair to do so. This way, if you decide to go with the Snowball you know what features you’re going to be missing out on that you would receive with the Yeti.

      Snowball Yeti
      Plug and Play Yes Yes
Mac & PC Compatible Yes Yes
      Instant Mute Button No Yes
      Gain Control No Yes
      Headphone Jack No Yes
Number of Polar Patterns 3 4
      Types of Polar Patterns Cardioid
      Omnidirectional
      Cardioid with -10dB Pad
      Cardioid
      Stereo
      Omnidirectional
      Bidirectional
Bit Rate 44.1 kHz 48 kHz
Capsules 2 Condenser capsule design 3 Blue-proprietary 14mm condenser capsules
      Frequency Response 40 –18 kHz 20Hz – 20kHz

      Still a Great Mic

So the Snowball is missing some features that you receive with the Yeti. The big two that stand out to me are gain control and the headphone jack. For music artists and Podcasters, I feel it’s important to have the headphone jack. Also, considering the Yeti’s offers zero-latency from mic to headphone makes it a really great option for Podcasters and musicians on a budget that want great sound quality. Finally, having the gain control is a big advantage as it let’s you really get the best sound possible depending on how far away you are from the mic.

      Rode NT-USB

Good for – Podcasting, voiceovers, online gaming, narrations

      • Frequency response – 20Hz-20kHz
      • Sample Rate: 16bit
      • Pattern Selection – Cardioid
      • Gain Control – No
      • Mute Button – No
      • Max SPL – 110dB

The Rode NT-USB is a studio quality USB microphone. It’s great for musical performance or pure vocal recording (podcasting, narration, voice-over, etc..).

Pop-filters are not very expensive, but I do like that they give you one with this microphone. Similar to the Yeti, it has a headphone jack with zero-latency stereo headphone monitoring.

The only con, in my opinion, is that there is no gain control.

      View it on Amazon

      ASUS ROG Strix Magnus

Good for – Gaming, Podcasting, voice-overs

      • Pattern Selection – Cardioid, Stereo, Enc
      • Gain Control – Yes

The Strix Magnus is definitely geared towards gamers. It’s a great alternative to a headphone setup. Asus did a great job in creating an excellent quality USB mic.

It has three 14mm studio-grade condenser capsules with optimized pickup patterns. So the quality is going to be very clear. It’s also about 50% than most USB microphones and at the same time doesn’t need a stand. A lot of these microphones are so big they basically cover your face up. It also comes with a nice carrying case, making it easy to travel with.

The controls, such as adjusting the sensitivity, are built into the microphone so that you can easily adjust the settings.

It’s also really cool looking with the exclusive aura RGB lighting effects.

Be sure to check out all the specs from ASUS and View it on Amazon to get yours today.

      MXL 990 USB

Good for – Podcasting, voiceovers, online gaming, narrations

      • Pattern Selection – Cardioid
      • Gain Control – No
      • Mute Button – No
      • Max SPL – 136dB
      • Sample Rate – 16 bit

Install the Virtual Preamp software. It has a volume fader which will help you out by providing precise control over gain structure. There’s really good detailed documentation on their website for installing and using it.

The MXL 990 USB does not appear to come with a headphone jack. Based off research I have accomplished, I would only suggest this microphone for vocal work, at best.

      View it on Amazon

      Samson Go Mic

Samson Go Mic is definitely one of the lowest-priced mics on this list. Listed, currently at $39.99 + free shipping (Amazon Prime). In addition to that it is also, in my opinion, the most portable microphone around. In other words, it is small. But don’t let the price or smallness fool you. This is as good as any other mic around and can be used for all same functions as the others. Namely, podcasting, music recording, voice-overs, etc… This is a great mic for on-the-go musicians. It is one of the most highly reviewed mics on Amazon with most of those reviews being very favorable to the product.

It’s also worth noting this microphone has two pick up patterns. The Go Mic has cardioid like all the other microphones in this list. But it also has an omnidirectional pickup pattern. This is great if you want to do an interview or record a lecture. I like the look of it to as it’s small and modern yet retro looking.

      Razer Seiren X

Another USB mic with Amazon great Amazon’s Choice honor. This mic has a super cardiod pick up to help eliminate distracting noises.

Razer is a great company in the gaming industry. They’re keyboards and mice are also top notch. So it doesn’t surprise me that they’d come out with an amazing USB microphone.

It’s also shock resistant. So when you’re streaming on Twitch and hit your desk, it shouldn’t be a problem.

In 2021, because of COVID, most of us have moved from the office to our home as our primary work location. We find ourselves on various video conferencing systems such as Microsoft Teams, Zoom, and Webex. So good quality webcams have become more important than ever.

As a blogger in 2021, you may find yourself creating a video. Many bloggers will create a video blog to go along with their written blog posts. This is a great practice as it will help your audience connect more closely to you. When  it comes to recording video for your blog, the way I see it, you have two main options. You’re going to use a webcam or a camcorder. In this resource list we are going to stick to webcams for those of you that want to record in front of your computer.

Webcams – Picking the Right One

If you’re planning on recording video blog posts (vlogs) sitting in front of your laptop then a webcam is the way to go. It’s a much less expensive option that can still give you great quality results. Of course to have great quality results, you’ll need:

      1. A good webcam
      2. The right lighting
      3. A good microphone

If you plan on doing more than sitting in front of your laptop then you’ll want to look into a good quality camcorder such as the Akaso.

Having a great webcam is only part of the equation. As I mentioned, having the right lighting and a good microphone are the other two parts to that equation. So when it comes to lighting, most of the time, the standard lighting you have in your house will not be enough. Fortunately, with a small investment, you can invest in a lighting kit that will make a world of a difference. A basic swivel arm desk lamp positioned right behind your laptop pointed down at you may be all you need.

Also, here is a video on how to achieve great lighting using a basic swivel arm desk lamp.

If you want to get a little fancier, a couple softbox lights on each corner of yourself does excellent as well. Here’s a softbox lighting kit you may want to invest in.

Lastly, most webcams have built-in microphones. The problem is these microphones tend to suck. Yes, I believe that is the technical term. Kidding aside, the built-in microphones on webcams tend to have a lot of echo and not sound too clear. The solution to that problem is to upgrade to an external microphone. Thankfully, USB microphones have come a long way and there are some really good ones that will give you studio-quality audio. Check out the USB microphone resource list here at Pro Blog Resources.

So without further ado, my top ten best webcams for 2021.

Creative Live! Cam Sync HD 720p 3.7 MP No Plastic Mono

       NexiGo N60 – Amazon’s Choice

If you didn’t want to invest into an external USB microphone, I believe the microphone built into this webcam is better than the rest. It has built-in noise cancelling microphone.

The picture quality is amazing as well coming with a 110 degree ultra wide angle picture, this webcam would work great if there’s more than one person in front of it.

After viewing some customer reviews, here’s the main take-aways that customers love about this webcam:

      •  It’s cheap
      • Does well in lower light conditions
      • Good gaming cam
      • Good for video conferencing / Zoom meetings if you work from home
      • Video and microphone quality are great
      • People seem to like the manual focus.
      • People like the wide angle.

With over 9,000 ratings coming in at a 4.5 out of 5 star review, overall, this webcam has earned the best seller status and for good reason.

It has the ability to auto focus to make you look at crystal clear as possible.

Echo cancellation and noise reduction make for a great built in microphone.

You can also mount this webcam to a tripod if you desire.

In the comments section people seem to like how easy it is to install. They also like the privacy lens, picture quality, and sound quality. Most people will tell you, for the price, this is a solid webcam that works great.

Wansview HD 1080P PC Webcam – #1 Best Seller

Similar to the other webcams this one has a noise cancelling microphone built into it. It has an adjustable focus lens so that you can get your picture just right. The video quality is amazing. Wansview is a great company that is also known for making baby monitors and outdoor security cameras. So they are a big name in the world of cameras.

Here’s the benefits customers are reporting

      • Adjustable focus lens makes a big difference in quality
      • Recognized by Linux system
      • Works great in various video chat programs
      • Built-in microphone sounds clean
      • It just works. Plug and play.

      View on Amazon

      Logitech C920

The Logitech HD Pro Webcam C920 is at the top of the list and for good reason. It’s an Amazon #1 best seller. In regards to webcams it is at the top of the class. In relation to how it compares with its top competitors, it beats them all out.

What Makes the C920 Stand-out From the Rest?

Just about everything. I’ll start with the lens. The C920 has a Full HD glass lens. This is opposed to the plastic lens that most other webcams have. This five element glass lens helps capture razor-sharp, clear images/video.

So let’s talk a bit about the video, since that is probably the main reason you would make this purchase. This webcam comes with H.264 compression technology. Not many other webcams have this technology. If you’re streaming, this is ideal. It will also be less taxing on your laptop. So you get better quality video and less CPU utilization.

The webcam also records in full HD 1080p whereas most other webcams record in 720p. Even on Skype, it can work at 1080p. This makes this webcam ideal as a solution for a video conference room. It will do a great job of capturing the whole room in great clarity.

It has a 15MP camera built-in to it as well which beats out all the rest. You can even attach this webcam onto a tripod as it has a screw mount. Not many other webcams have this feature. You can tell Logitech made this webcam with professional use in mind.

The audio quality isn’t bad, but as with all the webcams listed here I suggest purchasing a quality USB microphone.

The only con about this webcam is that it is unable to rotate 360 degrees whereas a couple of its competitors do have this ability.

View the Logitech C920 on Amazon

      Microsoft Lifecam Studio

The Lifecam is one of the few webcams I know of that can connect to a tripod. But what makes it better is how easily adjustable it can tilt up or down. Similar to the Logitech C920, the Lifecam has a glass lens as opposed to plastic which gives the cam much better image and video quality. It can record in 1080p widescreen which makes this camera a great choice for conference rooms and greater overall clarity.

The build quality is also very nice. The outer casing is brushed aluminum whereas most others are plastic.

I really like the versatility of this camera. It has 360-degree rotation. It can rotate halfway in both directions. This is great for shooting video or doing Skype calls with multiple people.

Finally, the webcam comes with a nice case for traveling. It is definitely one of the best webcams on the market.

View the Lifecam Studio on Amazon

AUSDOM Webcam 1080 HD Camera,Desktop or Laptop Webcam

Although Ausdom isn’t a big name like the Logitech C920 or the Microsoft Lifecam Studio I included it towards the top of the list because it has certain features that only the best webcams on this list have. For example, it captures video in 1080p HD and has a glass lens. Those two features, alone, seem to be reserved for the best webcams on the market.

Possible Con – The reviews are mixed. Most of the reviews are 5 star. But there doesn’t seem to be a lot in-between. It’s either 5-star or 1-star.

Another possible con that I noticed is in regards to the focus-type which is manual as opposed to auto.

For the price (which is on the low end), this webcam offers some features only found in the higher-end webcams which may make it worth trying out.

View the Ausdom webcam on Amazon

      Logitech C310

I’ve personally used this webcam for Skype calls at work and it works great for that purpose. There’s a huge difference from the webcam built into my laptop. The C310 gives a clean clear video quality. If you’re doing videos where you will basically want to record a head-shot, this camera will do the trick. You’re not going to get the depth and clarity you will from a product like the C920 but quality it still great. For the price, it’s a great webcam as it comes in at the low end of the price scale. It usually sells for around $30.

View the Logitech C310 on Amazon

      Logitech C525

The C525 is very similar the C615. The main difference is that the C525 utilizes a plastic lens as opposed to a glass lens. So the image and video quality will not be as good. That said, the C525 is listed as “Amazon’s Choice” on Amazon and has excellent ratings to go with it.

View the Logitech C525 on Amazon

       HP HD 3110

HP is not very well-known for their webcams. The HD3310 looks promising. Features that make it stand out include its ability to pan 360 degrees and it’s ability to autofocus and autoexposure. There’s not a whole lot of reviews out there on this webcam compared to some of it’s competitors that are close in specifications. It’s a little pricey for the what it offers. That said, HP is a good company that makes quality products. So it maybe worth a try.

      View on Amazon

       Genius Widecam F100

This webcam is great for Skype calling and especially great for conference calls due to it’s 120 degree wide-angle glass lens. It also sounds great for recording as it claims to be able to record HD 1080p at 30fps which is similar to the C920 webcam. As I mentioned, it has a glass lens which will add to the clarity of the picture. On top of all that is can rotate 360 degrees.

This camera has amazing specifications. One thing worth noting is that it does not offer H.264 compression. What does this mean to you? Well H.264 compression is what helps a camera such as the Logitech C920 be able to record full HD 1080P at 30fps (frames per second). Because of that this camera may drop the frame rate which could adversely affect the video quality.

You can find lots of great free WordPress themes in the WordPress.org themes directory. That said, if you’re building a website that will be around, long-term, it’s a good idea to go with a premium WordPress theme. But you might be asking yourself “Why? Why would I want to pay for a premium WordPress theme when there are so many free ones available?” Let’s try to answer that question.

Premium WordPress Themes Come With Support

Many free WordPress themes do not offer any kind of support options. They may answer you through the WordPress forums but they do not have to. I use Avada (which is a Premium theme), personally, and I have contacted their support a number of times to figure out how to do little tweaks to my site. They’re technical support is very quick to respond and help me with my issue.

      Lots of Premium Features

Free WordPress themes lack a lot of great features that premium WordPress themes offer. As you go through this list and look at a few of the templates, you’ll soon realize what I’m talking about. Needless to say, when you pay for a Premium WordPress Theme you are paying, in large part, for the amazing features they provide you that you would have to, otherwise, purchase as separate plug-ins with a free template.

      Updates From The Developers

Free WordPress themes may not get updated as much as premium ones do. So if the theme essentially… breaks, then you are out of luck. Also, the updates, in large part address a number off issues from security-related concerns, to keeping up with the latest HTML and CSS best practices.

The market for WordPress Premium themes is pretty big. That’s a good thing for you, the customer, as these companies make it a priority to constantly improve the templates, add more features, and keep up excellent customer support.

Each WordPress theme listed is packed with so many features that makes creating a curated top 10 list difficult to do as this page would become very long very quickly in attempting to describe the myriad of features each one offers. So listed below are 10 of the best premium WordPress themes for 2021. The themes are listed in no particular order.

Here’s an interesting face. Email marketing is still the most effective way of communicating with your audience. So as a blogger, if you want a following and you want to monetize on your blog then you absolutely need email marketing software. Building an email list is essential. When somebody signs up for your email list they are, basically, saying “I trust this person and/or find what he/she’s saying interesting enough to keep up with.” For those of you thinking that email marketing is losing it’s cool and is something that is not used that much, think again. It’s statistically proven to be an effective method.  Here’s just three stats.

      1. Email marketing averages an ROI of $38 for every $1 spent. (Source)

      2. Email has become the top source of analytics data for marketing professionals, with 41 percent relying on performance data. (Forbes)

      3. For one in five companies, email marketing provides an ROI greater than 70-to-1. (Source)

Fortunately, there’s lots of excellent email marketing software solutions on the market. When it comes to choosing email marketing software, I suggest to look for a couple things in the company that you decide to choose.

      • Customer Support – Look for a company that offers great customer support. They should be willing to answer any questions you have and help you understand what you are doing. They may even give you guidance if you ask their opinion.
      • Integrations – Look for email marketing software that offers integrations with other software. Most of the email marketing services listed below offer many integrations that can be tied into various kinds of software. A few integration examples include Google Analytics, Instapage, Paypal, Etsy, and much more.
      • Email Templates – When you can drag and drop to create a nice looking professional email it makes life much easier.
      • Tracking/Analytics – All the email marketing service providers listed below offer tracking and analytics. Knowing information about who is opening your emails, clicking on the links, and more is important information to know.

It’s also a good idea to invest in an email marketing course. This way you can start understanding the lingo and learn about various email marketing strategies and tactics to use.

So without further ado, let’s jump into some of the greatest email marketing services for 2021. I do hope this helps you to pick the one that is right for you.

      Aweber

      Aweber

      Aweber Email Marketing Software

Aweber is definitely one of the leading names in email marketing software.  What has set Aweber apart from the competition is their excellent customer service. Email marketing can be complex. That said, Aweber will really help you to understand email marketing. Their customer service will do more than just show you how to do something. They will take the time to explain to you the process. This way you understand it. Beyond that, if you ask for advice they will give it to you. In other words, they are there to grow with you.

Aweber has lots of integrations. Whether you need it to integrate with your content management system, social media, e-commerce, landing page software, customer relation software, or some other software, odds are there is an integration with AWeber. Best yet, Aweber will show you how to setup the integration.

I really like Aweber’s campaigns. They have an easy-to-use drag-and-drop editor that let’s you set up detailed campaigns that are fully automated.

      ConvertKit

       ConvertKit

Convertkit seems to be heavily advertised towards bloggers. So for the sake of this website ( which is geared towards bloggers) Convertkit is targeted to my readers. I can see why. By looking at their features they speak to how they help you, as a creator, build your audience. Their system for setting up automations has, in my opinion, the easiest user interface to use. It makes setting up automations very simple.

Unlike many other email marketing software companies, Convertkit doesn’t offer a wide variety of email templates. I can appreciate the simplicity. Something people don’t understand is that simple email messages are better at converting compared to fancy emails with all sorts of images and color.

The integrations are excellent as well. I really like that you can use this within Zapier to do all kinds of amazing automations between various systems. This is definitely the email marketing platform for bloggers.

      Mailchimp

Mailchimp is one of the most popular email marketing platforms. A big reason for that is that you can start for free. Good deal! They also offer a wide range of training material. Mailchimp is a service that has come a long way over the years and are trusted by many. They now offer more than just email marketing as well.
